While a great many airlines have retired Jumbos because of Covid, the few that will continue to fly A380s and 747s when they restart are scrambling to find ways to use them during this period of uncertainty.
The initiative, launched by Singapore Airlines, is certainly a novelty in a world where we are used to amazing projects and ideas. Just think of the TWA hotel in New York, decommissioned aircraft turned into attractions, restaurants and hotels to Thai's recent idea of opening a restaurant in downtown Bangkok, where customers are served as they are on a plane and with the same food.
But the Asian airline has decided to go further by turning one of its flagships into a restaurant. And it will do so at its Changi airport, voted one of the best airports in the world
In fact, on October 24 and 25, it will be possible to reserve a seat and embark to enjoy lunch or dinner on board.
As is logical to expect, the treatment and menu will depend on the class of ticket, but for all diners it is sure to be a unique experience that the airline will celebrate with a series of souvenirs to commemorate the occasion.
The only sore point is that it will be difficult for Italians to participate, as at the moment Singapore's borders are still closed due to pandemic.
