Review DoubleTree Lisbon Fontana Park

N.B. I visited this hotel in December 2019, so in pre covid era

This facility is the only one in the Hilton family available in Lisbon, while there are a total of 4 hotels in the group in Portugal.

It is located in the Saldanha district, about 5 minutes from the square of the same name and its subway stop, an ideal location for the business district, while it is slightly out of the more touristy areas of the city.

Reservation 

As usual, I made the reservation through the Hilton app. The cost for a basic room in mid-December 2019 was about €90 per night, in my case I booked a King Premium at a cost of €104. The counter value in Hilton Honors Points Was about 36k points per night. Obviously thanks to my american express platinum I was able to take advantage of my Gold level in the loyalty program, which translated into free breakfast and thus a savings of more than €20 per day.

I reached the hotel by cab directly from the airport in about a 10-minute ride. The property was built inside a building that housed a foundry in the late 1800s to mid 1900s, the spaces are reminiscent of the industrial past with many "souvenirs." The lobby is designer and spacious with some artwork in the center and a business station available to guests.

Opposite the entrance is a lounge bar that overlooks a small outdoor space, but enclosed on all sides, ideal for relaxing after a busy day in the chaos of the city. The lower floor houses the meeting rooms. Upon our arrival we were offered the classic and delicious warm chocolate hazelnut cookie.

The room

The rooms are spread over two different wings of the hotel; most of the rooms are in the main building, while the premium rooms are in a different area, accessed through a corridor leading to the elevators.

The rooms differ mainly in view; in my case, I did not have a view of the nearby park, but I still had an entirely windowed wall from which I could peruse the life of the Portuguese capital.

The room is very thoughtful in design and furniture solutions, such as the 60″ television hidden behind the mirror, so much so that when turned off it was not visible at all. Also in the room is a Nespresso machine and a thermos for making tea and herbal teas.

The bathroom is quite spacious, has a generously sized walking shower and a second door to isolate the toilet area.

Breakfast

The breakfast room, which becomes a restaurant room in the evening, hosts the classic buffet. The offer is rich and able to satisfy the most demanding palates.

Also available to guests is a range of typical products and a wide selection of baked goods, with at least 10 different types of breads, brioche, muffins, and bagels.

Also unmissable is the choice of hot items and the ability to order omelets and eggs directly from the wait staff.

In conclusion

A modern, designer hotel with everything you would expect from a Doubletree. Excellent facility if you are in Lisbon on business, for those in the city for tourism, the downside is the distance from the sea and the more touristy areas, however, it is the only Hilton option in the city.

This stay earned me a total of 9,299 points honors, 3,321 basis points, 2,657 elite bonus and 3,321 promotion.
