Review Crown lounge Schengen, Amsterdam airport: immense

The visit at this lounge was a few days before the outbreak of the pandemic in Europe

One's first impression of this KLM lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is of being in the convention center rather than a waiting room.

The size is important, not least because being the main lounge in the Schengen terminal it is the one equipped to meet the needs of all passengers departing not only with KLM but all Sky Team airlines operating at the Dutch airport.

To gain access, you must fly in a premium class or hold "elite" status in one of the alliance companies. In my case, I was able to take advantage of this because my Winged Arrow status is one of the benefits of American Express Platino Alitalia, which recognizes the level for free for the first year and then from the second it allows you to renew your status at a steep discount on the miles you need.

Entry is done either automatically by scanning the ticket or through an attendant; immediately past the reception desk is one of the largest lounges among those dedicated to Schenghen flights.

As can be seen in the map and in our pictures, it is divided into two rooms, where there are as many refreshment areas, with a capacity certainly exceeding 250 people (pre covid).

Available to guests is a huge bar counter where you can tap 10 different kinds of beers, a huge selection of wines and soft drinks of all kinds. In the case of our visit, it was the early morning hours, so not everything was available for breakfast.

 

Remarkable were the solutions available to passengers: bar model tables, armchairs and sofas, small relaxation areas, multimedia room and business center equipped with computers, printers and other devices. In the area opposite the entrance, however, small lounges were available that were isolated from the noisier area of the lounge.

An entire island in the center of the room is dedicated to the buffet, for breakfast all kinds of food worthy of the best Sunday brunch were available.

Of course, showers are also available to freshen up before leaving.
