How to stay in the Maldives for a year?
At present, Italian and European citizens in general receive a 30-day tourist visa on arrival, extendable by another 2 months. One might consider going out every so often to go "sightseeing" in India, Sri Lanka or Seychelles by taking advantage of the free transfer to and from the atoll that houses the resort to Malé and its international airport, c0so doing so would restart the count from zero each time.
It is not known at this time whether the Maldives government plans to copy some Caribbean states, which offer a work visa aimed at attracting smartworkers from around the world while waiting for the pandemic to end.
Important to note that reservations must be made by November 30, 2020, and stays can take place between January 3, 2021 and December 2021
