In the initial plan the carrier was to be called Adriavia, instead it was officially unveiled in recent days as Kairos Air. Against a background of anticipation for the world of air transport this will be the second Italian airline To take flight in 2021.
The carrier will be based in the city of Ancona. From the city airport it will operate domestic and trans-Adriatic flights thanks to a fleet of two 72-600 Atr 72-seaters. The first routes will connect Ancona with Rome and Milan On a multi-day basis.
But why this name? According to the group of entrepreneurs who have decided to support the new challenge, this is the decisive moment to take flight, and so the name Kairos (ancient Greek for "right time") seems to fall into place.
The partners are industrialists from the area: the Davanzali family, the owners of the Itavia company the one in Ustica for the younger generation, along with Guzzini, Ottaviani and other local entrepreneurs.
The two aircraft will be wet-leased from Air Nostrum, which is based in Spain and has strong ties to Iberia, for which it operates as a subsidiary for medium- and short-haul routes.
Air Nostrum will also provide crew and maintenance, and should there be problems in obtaining a license from ENAC, it is not ruled out that Kairos could operate directly under the Spanish carrier's license.
As the other newcomer Ego Airways, Kairos is also targeting secondary routes to be served by small aircraft. It is looking at Brindisi, Lamezia Terme, Olbia, all territories currently unreachable from the Marche airport. Looking ahead to the possibility in the high season of adding a third ATR and routing to the other side of the Adriatic at the airports of Split, Corfu, and Tirana.
The goal is to reach 300 thousand passengers per year.
