The tourism sector needs to restart and the Thailand looks to the near future, when the vaccination process will have reached considerable numbers. There is good news for those who intend to try their hand at discovering this beautiful country, which attracts millions of tourists every year.
According to a report in the Financial Times, Thailand is reportedly ready to cancel thequarantine obligation for tourists. A very important facility, as long as you have received both injections provided for the Covid-19 vaccine. The new health program will make no distinction on place of origin, but will provide for access without quarantine only if at least two weeks have elapsed since the issuance of the second dose.
The vaccination process in Thailand is expected to be implemented by March. This bodes well for a serious upswing in tourism for the summer and latter part of 2021. Indeed, travelers may be reassured that the country has made huge strides in countering the Covid-19. To date, these are more than credible assumptions, as confirmed by the words of the deputy governor of Tourism, Tanes Petsuwan: "I think the government is considering this very carefully. This is a positive signal." However, it cannot be ruled out that even vaccinated travelers will be required to be tested negative for Covid-19 before departure.
Travel to Thailand: the rules in force
The Thai government is well aware that tourism represents an invaluable source of economic gains. That is why it continues to come up with a series of initiatives designed to persuade travelers from all over the world to try their hand at a trip to the beauty of the place. The STV, or Special Tourist Visa, designed to facilitate the arrival of international tourists, still has validity.
With such documentation it is possible to stay in the territory up to a maximum of 270 days, or nine months. Added to this are special vacation packages. The latest one launched by the government is known as "Fly in the heat" and provides for a stay of well 45 days without a visa. However, the quarantine requirement remains, at least until the general dissemination of vaccines.
The implemented plan aims to facilitate travel planning to Thailand. "Fly warm" is the new proposal included in theEscape Package No Visa. A project launched by Asian Trail in collaboration with Bell Travel. An interesting idea to spend 45 days of relaxation, including 30 days outside the hotel facility planned for quarantine. All from 249 euros per week. The offer can only be purchased through an agency, with the quarantine days to be spent in a luxury hotel in Bangkok and the rest of the vacation in total relaxation at Phuket.
Fee for tourists
The many reasonings about the return of mass tourism to Thailand led the government to the introduction of a new tax dedicated to international travelers. This is a small amount, to say the least, amounting to $10, or a little more than 8 euro. Each tourist must pay it upon arrival or after booking a package at an agency.
A project that has been under consideration for years now, which will allow the monies collected to be used for the tourists themselves. The idea is to use the funds to provide insurance benefits for tourists, as well as for infrastructure development.
An important advantage was stressed by Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thai Tourism Minister: "The tax will ensure that all travelers have access to necessary medical care in case of illness or accident."
