Virgin Atlantic match status
The main market for Delta's subsidiary airline is the UK. Flights to North America, the Caribbean and the rest of the world depart from the London Heathrow base and terminal 3 lounge. That is why the company, founded by the histrionic Richard Branson, decided to entice British Airways passengers to try out its planes, especially the brand new Airbus A350s, the new flagship of the fleet.

That's why if you fall into this category and do not have a status with the company you should definitely not miss the opportunity. Not to forget that Virgin Atlantic does not participate in any Atlantic alliance, but together with Delta, AirFrance, and KLM forms a new coalition: the benefits obtained will therefore be recognized even when you fly with these SkyTeam companies.
How the challenge works
- You must be Executive Club status holder (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
- You must be planning a flight with Virgin Atlantic or book one by February 28. It can also be an award flight
- Within a maximum of 30 days you will be recognized for the level
What level will you get in the Flying Club
- British Airways Bronze Executive Club members will receive Flying Club Silver status, but only by making a Premium or Upper Class reservation
- British Airways Executive Club Silver members will receive Flying Club Silver status with any booking
- British Airways Executive Club Gold members will receive Flying Club Gold status with any booking
What is interesting is that Virgin Atlantic is the only company that currently allows you to earn qualifying points and miles on award flights as well.
How to apply for status match?
By February 28 you must complete these 4 steps
- Join the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club (if you are not already a member)
- Provide Flying Club membership number
- Provide proof of your British Airways Executive Club membership with a photo or screenshot of your membership card.
- Provide booking reference for your next Virgin Atlantic flight
It is also possible to apply for status match if you hold a level in other companies, however, in this case the procedure is different (go through here).
Silver but with an extra
Silver members of both BA and VA do not get lounge access when they are not flying in classes that provide it, so included in the status match challenge is not only the level but also the chance to experience, when it reopens (probably in the spring), the beautiful lounge in London's Terminal 3. All silver users will, in fact, receive two complimentary entrances.
A curiosity: the first Centurion Lounge in Europe is scheduled to open in the same terminal.
