We want to initiate an in-depth study to raise awareness of the Tools that should make up the toolbox Of all would-be serial mileage accumulators.

In this article:

Wheretocredit.com is a very useful program: it allows you to get the most out of your frequent flyer miles and not waste a single point. Because newbies to the miles-credit-card-airline world is exactly what they wonder: how do you accumulate points if you fly frequently with different airlines?

Not everyone is familiar with the various alliances, those agreements that carriers have made that allow you to take advantage of frequent flyer miles and privileges by booking with different companies. Much easier is to rely instead on an intuitive tool such as wheretocredit.com.

    Why use wheretocredit.com

On the surface it may seem simple: to earn more miles, simply book a flight from among those offered by the companies in thealliance With whom you have a frequent flyer account (SkyTeam, Star Alliance, Oneworld).

Actually, it is a bit more complex. Most airlines have additional partnerships with different airlines than its alliance partners. In addition, not all carriers in an alliance treat members in the same way.

What the value of credited miles depends on

Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?

You could get up to 600€ compensation per person

One very important thing to understand are the variables that make up the ticket and lead to the final amount of miles a traveler can earn. These variables are:

    1. The travel class. Be careful not to confuse the class of travel with the cabin of travel. The former means the fare class, identified by a letter, the latter is the cabin: economy, premium economy, business and first
    2. The Elite Level In the individual airline's loyalty program
    3. The rules of individual companies Airline when flying in code share, that is, flying with one carrier but the ticket is issued by a different carrier

The class of travel may result in flying Alitalia, for example, not earning miles if credited on AirFrance, conversely the same flight if credited on Vietnam Airlines could earn 200% of miles flown.

    How to use wheretocredit.com

Using wheretocredit.com is dead simple. Just type into the site's internal engine the name of the airline you intend to fly with, the class of your ticket, and the site returns the response. That is, it tells you which way those miles can earn you the most.

In this first example we see how flying on a Z-class ticket with Virgin Atlantic allows us to credit miles earned on certain airlines.

The list is short because Virgin Atlantic does not participate in any Atlantic alliance: as we see, the tiers indicate the elite level of the individual company and the associated bonus.

If, for example, we are not interested in accumulating miles in the Flying Club program we may decide to accumulate on Krisflyer of Singapore (as you can see, however, the final bill will be much lower than Virgin miles). In this case we would like to recommend the Delta's skymiles that could come in handy for a domestic flight in the U.S..

Instead, let's take a more classic example: let's assume that we buy a super-discounted ticket to go to New York from Rome.

In this case the cheapest fare offers us for less than 400€ to fly with Delta, via Amsterdam. As you can read the class of the ticket is "E," by going to WTC you can see the percentages of miles you accumulate compared to the actual flown, depending on your status and the loyalty program you choose for crediting.

It is important to analyze this table before deciding what code to enter, because each carrier applies a different percentage. For example, Aeroflot and Aerolinas Argentinas will not charge anything for flights on this itinerary. Similarly, it is possible to see how the Alitalia's Millemiglia program is much more generous than Flying Blue by Air France and KLM.

Alitalia Millemiglia: six mistakes +1 not to make

The use of this tool is critical so that we do not waste miles by choosing the loyalty program that we can be used to get the next prize ticket. If you do not have the opportunity to travel Alitalia, because the routes you are interested in are not covered or are not convenient, that credit on the AZ loyalty program would be wasted. Here then, wheretocredit.com, comes to your aid.
