All Coop members know that February 28 each year is the last day available to turn the points on your card into benefits. We have already explained how to do the groceries at the supermarket can turn into at least one business class ticket, today we want to remind you of the deadline and how to convert points to miles.
How much are Coop points worth
Alitalia and Coop have been partners for a long time, the standard conversion is for 100 Coop points to become 100 to 500 miles depending on the different "cooperative alliance."
In detail, the current conversion rate is:
Cooperative | Point of Sale Distribution | Conversion Miles/Points |
Unicoop Cooperative |
Tuscany (Arezzo, Siena, Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato) | 100 COOP POINTS = 100 MILES
Conversions required by August 31, 2020 |
Unicoop Cooperative |
Tuscany (Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Siena)
Latium Umbria |
100 COOP POINTS = 100 MILES
Conversions required by January 31, 2021 |
Coop Northwest which includes: -COOP Lombardy |
Piedmont Liguria Lombardy |
100 COOP POINTS = 500 MILES
Conversions required by February 28, 2021 |
WARNING. Last year in February a promo was launched that doubled the conversion, leading to the incredible sum of 100 Coop points = 1,000 miles. So the advice is to wait until the second half of February before converting.
How much are 1,000 points worth at the Coop
The Coop catalog has different conversions depending on the relevant cooperative, but in general we can give some examples. If you are a Coop Northwest customer, the most generous in terms of conversion, you can turn 1,000 points into 5,000 Alitalia miles.
Alternatively, those 1,000 points can be used to make €10 worth of fuel
Otherwise, you can use the points to discount your spending.
In this example we see how 2,500 points can be used to discount $30 from a $100 expenditure, the same 2,500 points can however become as many as 12,500 Millemiglia points..
How to convert points
Methods vary between cooperatives. In the case of Coop Nord Ovest you have to go to the hypermarket and ask at the listening point for the conversion, the points normally take at most a couple of days to be credited. As for Coop Tirreno and Uni Coop Firenze, it is also possible to apply online at their respective sites.
