The official announcement came this morning with a sentence that leaves little room for interpretation and above all puts the customer at the center of the British company's strategy.
No Executive Club members of British Airways, including Bronze, Silver and Gold cardholders will lose their Tier status in 2021.
Members, whose date of end of Tier Point collection falls between July 1 and December 31, 2021, they will have their status renewed for an additional 12 months, regardless of the number of level points accumulated.
To thank customers for their loyalty during this extremely difficult time, British Airways announced today that it will protect the Tier status of Executive Club members for an additional year, the change will be visible on the Executive Club account this week.
Niall Rooney, head of the Executive Club at British Airways, said, "As we look forward to flying around the world again, we want to thank our Executive Club members for their loyalty during the most difficult times in our airline's history."
Today's announcement means that BA frequent flyers have in fact received two years of protection and that no British Airways Executive Club member will lose their Tier status in 2021. In addition, the airline has renewed all vouchers held by travelers, including. companions earned from credit cards.
Finally, for those whose Tier Point collection year ends before July 2022, British Airways has further reduced by 25% the amount of Tier Points needed to reach each level.
BA is not the first to make such a decision; in recent weeks we have already seen TAP Portugal, AirFrance/KLM and many more companies will follow in the coming months.
