With the spread of vaccines, the opportunities for return to travel are finally beginning to be many. Especially those who dream of visiting a place as evocative and fascinating as Belize can finally start planning their vacation. In a decision announced by representatives of the Tourism Board, the Belize officially became the first country in the Caribbean to allow access to vaccinated tourists without having to submit a Covid-19 test. Only children aged 5 years and older will be mandatory.
The Belize Health app and the rules for entering
The choice comes as a result of the reduction in daily cases across the country. Belize has managed to control the spread of Coronavirus and currently there are less than 100 active cases throughout the territory, a number that is steadily decreasing. With these new rules, tourists will have to download the Belize Health app and enter the required health information within 72 hours before arrival. Once completed, you will receive a unique travel ID and QR code. The Travel Belize website's advice is to take a screenshot so you can show it to the health officer upon arrival in Belize. All tourists will also need to submit an immunization record card, with inoculation completed at least two weeks prior to their arrival in the Caribbean territory. The government of Belize has no travel ban in place for visitors.
How to get there if you are not vaccinated
All those who are not vaccinated must continue to present a negative Covid-19 test. Belize will accept a PCR test performed within 96 hours of travel or a rapid test performed within 48 hours . Those who fail to submit a test will be required to submit to the swab upon arrival at the airport at a cost of $50 (payable only in cash). Travelers who test positive for Covid-19 will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Belize reopened to international tourism in October and has since received the Safe Travels Stamp, a global safety and hygiene stamp developed by the World Travel and Tourism Council. The initiative was created to convey confidence in travelers and revitalizing the global travel industry and tourism, devastated by the pandemic. The planned protocols were designed following World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and taking into account the best practices of WTTC members. As a reminder, there are no direct flights from Italy to get to Belize. The trip involves at least a stopover generally in Miami.
