Digital nomads? The right place to go is the Mauritius.
An island country in the heart of the Indian Ocean and a top destination for honeymoons, Mauritius aims to become a paradise for the digital nomads. So much so that he promised them the vaccine.
Digital nomads in Mauritius, year-long visa
As early as last October, Mauritius was already thinking about digital nomads. After all, with the outbreak of the pandemic and millions of people around the world forced into smart working, the destinations that have chosen to become "smartworkers-friendly" have grown by leaps and bounds. Who wouldn't want to work on a PC from a paradise beach, with a cocktail in their hands and the sea in the background?
Thus, in an initial attempt to reopen to tourism, Mauritius introduced the Premium Travel Visa for Mauritius. Intended for non-citizens and valid for one year (but with the possibility of renewal), the visa is granted to people who come to the country as tourists, retirees, or professionals traveling with their families and want to work remotely. However, one must show one's plans for a long-term stay, have health insurance and a source of income from outside Mauritius (you can't get hired).
Incoming digital nomads must spend 14 days of isolation within a facility designated by the state. They must also have a certificate of PCR test negative (done no more than 7 days before the flight) and undergo a new test 7 days after the quarantine begins.

Free vaccine for those who work remotely
To bring digital nomads to Mauritius, the country has decided to offer them an additional incentive. Not only can they spend 12 months or more here. Everyone over 18 who comes to the country to work remotely can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine free of charge made in Indian laboratories.
But Mauritius is not the only country to have come up with this idea. Also Dubai has launched an ad hoc program, with vaccine attached, for digital nomads. "We offer you a very high quality of life, numerous attractions and some of the highest levels of safety and hygiene in the world," reads the website for the program, which costs $287 + health insurance and also includes the vaccine (but you must have a monthly income of at least $5,000).
Cuba, on the other hand, decided to vaccinate tourists for free With the local Soberana serum. And so the Barbados: From May, travelers who want to can be vaccinated.
The so-called "vaccine tourism" will this be the trend in the coming months? Will people really move to receive the vaccine, just as they already do for cosmetic or dental procedures? It is not known for sure. But it is true that several destinations have introduced free vaccines for tourists and as many tour operators who are making such arrangements.
After all, especially in Europe, the vaccination campaign is proceeding slowly. And younger people, who are likely to receive the serum by the end of the year, are beginning to look around. Driven by a desire to travel and feel free again.
