Croatia reopens to tourism and the vaccine will not be necessary. This is good news for Italians who, out of proximity and convenience, like to spend their vacations in the country.
As well as Greece (which will reopen on May 14), Spain and Italy itself, tourism is also an essential part of the national economy for Croatia. And, after a 2020 of losses and uncertainties, the time has come to restart. Safely, of course. What will be the new rules? Let's find out together.
Croatia reopens to tourism: the rules
Even if not vaccinated, tourists will be able to travel to Croatia. The Croatian government announced this, explaining the new rules for entering the country. Foreign tourists who will have Completed the vaccination cycle 14 days prior to their arrival will not have to undergo quarantine, but even those who have not received the vaccine can travel to Croatia for their vacation and be free to roam, without self-isolation. That is, as long as they present a swab negativity certificate (performed within 48 hours prior to arrival). Those who have had Coronavirus in the previous 180 days are not required to undergo the swab as long as they present the certificate of recovery Issued by a physician.
If you do not have a negative swab or a certificate of recovery or a certificate of vaccination, you will be swabbed (at your own expense) upon arrival. And you will have to remain in self-isolation until the result is obtained. If you refuse the swab, self-isolation will last 10 days. However, children under 7 years of age, accompanied by an adult, are not subject to testing.
Croatia reopens to tourism, then. And it does so following the trend adopted by most countries that have decided to restart: Vaccine not required, and swab or certificate of recovery required (although there are exceptions, such as the Belize which admits only vaccinated tourists). In addition, to spend your vacation in the country, you must show the hotel/house reservation where you will be staying and fill out an online questionnaire prior to arrival.
Going to Croatia from Italy today
Until April 30, Italy imposes on those returning from abroad. 5-day quarantine.
Croatia, for Italy, is included in the group C along with: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark (including Faroe Islands and Greenland), Estonia, Finland, France (including Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion, Mayotte and excluding other territories located outside the European continent), Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands (excluding territories located outside the European continent), Poland, Portugal (including the Azores and Madeira), the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including territories on the African continent), Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, and Israel. It is therefore considered a safe country, although the 5-day self-isolation and a molecular or antigenic test after the fifth day are required.
For Croatia, Italy is not considered a "green zone" and therefore access is not free. However, it is possible to enter the Croatian territory, for vacations as for any other reason, by presenting a certificate of swab negativity, certificate of vaccination or certificate of recovery from SARS CoV-2.
