There is always a promotion: here is what distinguishes the loyalty program Hilton Honors from all major competitors such as Marriott Bonvoy.
And these are not fake promotions, like those of some sofa sellers in Italy, but real offers that from time to time help their members accumulate more points and thus more easily get free nights and other benefits.
Currently active (and will be until next May two) is the promo entitled. Points Unlimited which gives 2,000 points for each stay and other bonuses depending on the total number of overnight stays.
When it expires, a new one will start, announced just today, covering almost the entire summer period: from May 3 to September 6.
The promotion for summer 2021: more nights, more Points
The first thing to remember for all Hilton Honors program members is that all promos must be activated through the app or on the official website of the chain.
Here is how the promotion will work:
- Double points will be earned for all stays of one or two nights
- Triple points will be earned for stays longer than three nights
A promo (almost) never seen before
In recent months we have written about many promotions, but at the level of hotel loyalty programs this one is certainly among the most interesting because of the immediate result it can bring to the customer's pocket.
Normally for every dollar spent you earn 5 HH points at Tru and Home2 branded hotels (there are no facilities in Italy from these chains) and 10 points for all other hotels in the Hilton portfolio. To these points must be added the bonuses of 20% for Silver level members, 80% for Gold and 100% for Platinum.
A Gold user (a level that can be obtained for free thanks to the American Express Platinum) with a 2-night stay at a hotel such as the Milan Doubletree By spending 200€, he could earn indicatively:
- 2,000 basis points
- 1,600 bonus points for status
- 4,000 bonus points for promotion
- 1,000 points in case you decide not to take advantage of the free breakfast
So with a single two-night stay, one could accumulate even more than 8,500 points, and if there were 3 overnight stays, one would easily exceed 10k Hilton Honors points.
In conclusion
Impossible to know whether we will be in staycation either you can try to run far away or even just get out of Italy to stay somewhere in the EU, in any case taking advantage of this promo to put a nice nest egg of points in the safe to use on the first big vacation when we return free is definitely a strategy that will have no downside.
What is certain is that Hilton with this promotion definitely wants to amplify the desire of potential customers to return to travel (and sleep in hotels) and hopes to attract as many guests as possible.
