Today we want to talk about a little advantage known from American Express Platinum, a benefit that in recent years was categorized as temporary and as of May 1, 2021, is instead permanent: access to Lufthansa's German lounges. Free for cardholders.
How LH lounge access works
Personal and business Platinum cardholders, as well as holders of their respective supplementary cards, will have access to lounges at Frankfurt and Munich airports.
Precisely, one will have access to the Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounges in Terminal 2 of Munich Airport and Terminal 1, Departure Area B, of Frankfurt Airport.
What are the requirements
- Free access to Lufthansa Business Lounges (regardless of booking class, only with confirmed seat reservation) or the Lufthansa Senator Lounge (with Business Class ticket)
- Valid only in combination with Lufthansa, SWISS or Austrian Airlines flights
- Valid at Munich airport and Frankfurt airport
- There is a charge for access by any guests
In conclusion
This news is certainly interesting, but not as interesting as the one concerning the American lounges that Lufthansa has decided to open it up to Priority Pass card holders. If you do not fly intercontinental, unfortunately it will be difficult to take advantage of this option, since the lounges included in the agreement are those where non-Shengen connections are normally made.
The only real advantage is for business class travelers who will be able to take advantage of the Senator lounges, generally reserved for Gold level holders, which are more spacious and full of amenities.
Singular that, again, passengers from Brussels are excluded from the agreement.
