Ursula Von der Leyen opens doors to Americans
EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen gave an interview to the New York Times where he declared that in the near future the doors of Europe will be opened to all American tourists who have undergone vaccination versus Covid-19:
"The Americans, from what I can see, use vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) this will allow free movement and travel in the European Union.
Because one thing is clear: the 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, everyone who is vaccinated with EMA-approved vaccines."
Ursula Von der Leyen
The president did not specify a date from which there will be a "green light" for vaccinated U.S. citizens, but travel will most likely be granted starting this summer.
"The tremendous progress of the vaccination campaign in the U.S. is noted [...] travel will depend on the epidemiological situation, but things are improving in the U.S., as we hope in the European Union."
Ursula Von der Leyen
The U.S. is on track to vaccinate the 70% of the adult population by mid-June, so it is hoped that American tourists will be able to travel to Europe as early as by July/August.
To go to the States, on the other hand, you will need to patience some more, the vaccination campaign is continuing, and as soon as possible, the European certification in order to travel at least in the EU.
