As the vaccination campaign progresses in Italy and around the world, travel rules are changing. As of last May 16, and until the July 31, those arriving in Italy from one of the 27 countries of theEuropean Union and the Schengen area, but also from Great Britain, Northern Ireland e Israel, no longer have to undergo quarantine. This is good news for tourists coming from these countries, but also for Italians who go there on vacation and then have to return home.

In this article:

Is getting to and from abroad no longer subject to rules, then? The answer is no. At least, not for the time being. When the Green Pass (the set date is July 1, but Mario Draghi has assumed an advance to June 15), things will be easier. Indeed, it will be possible to move freely between EU countries, without quarantines or restrictions, in three cases: have been vaccinated (Green Pass is valid 15 days after the first dose, so it is not necessary to have completed the vaccination cycle to travel), Being cured of Covid-19 in the previous 6 months, be negative molecular swab results or rapid.

Until the Green Pass goes into effect, whether one is vaccinated or not, a negative swab taken within the previous 48 hours must be presented upon return to Italy.

List D countries (including the United States).

Traveling to Europe is therefore all in all easy, and it will be even easier when the Green Pass comes into effect. It is understood that each country has different rules on the subject of buffers: the age from which it is mandatory varies between 2 and 11 years old, and it is necessary to check well what the rules of the chosen country are in order not to find oneself stranded on arrival. Italians, however, can go even further. And go on a real trip overseas. Or rather: they can do it on paper.

In fact, the government has listed D Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Rwanda, Singapore, United States, Thailand. What does that mean? That, for Italy, you can go to these countries. But that, in fact, you can't because of the entry rules: the United States continues with the travel ban (and it is not known when they will reopen), theAustralia has decided that until 2022 its borders will remain tight. Should Group D countries reopen, at present Italians traveling there must show on return a Negative swab taken within the previous 72 hours arrival and still undergo a 10-day quarantine. The alternative is to embark on a Covid-tested flight which involves a double buffer: 48 hours before boarding and then upon arrival at the airport. Currently, Covid-tested flights land at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci and Milan's Malpensa airport, but Naples-Capodichino and Venice's Marco Polo will soon be added. Instead, departure airports are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Washington Dc, Canada, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates.

In the rest of the world, you cannot travel there for tourism. And there are even "banned" countries: the ban on entry from Brazil is in effect until July 30, 2021, except in very rare cases. And also banned is entry from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
