Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, noted that he might choose the Airport of Bergamo-Orio al Serio as the basis of the new Boeing 737 MAX ordered by the airline. The group expects to take delivery of its first aircraft in the coming weeks. This is a long-awaited breakthrough after the authorities gave the company the green light to return to the market with its most important model. In Europe, in fact, Boeing 737 Max aircraft are used mainly by Ryanair, which has targeted as many as 200 aircraft for its fleet.

London favored to become Boeing 737 MAX base
Ryanair has bases throughout Europe, but a question posed by Simple Flying at the World Aviation Festival clarified the airline's position. Eddie Wilson stated that an airport that can offer the necessary engineering support will probably be chosen as a base: "Probably Stansted in London or the airport of Bergamo-Orio al Serio (Milan-Bergamo)". Competition from the City is fierce considering that Stansted is the largest base available to Ryanair. In fact, the airline can count on maintenance support, flight simulators and even a former 737 dedicated to training mechanics and crew. As such, it makes sense for MAX to debut in London of all places.
Along with Dublin and Stansted, Milan is another major hub of Ryanair, with maintenance facilities in place. Deliveries of the MAX should have taken place shortly after the authorities gave the go-ahead. There is probably still a wait, however, as Eddie Wilson himself stated, "We are confident that the first delivery will come in the next few weeks and then, like any other aircraft, it will go into service practically the next day. There is always work to be done when it arrives in Dublin particularly in terms of testing the aircraft and allowing it to be used right away."
The return of the Boeing 737 Max and Ryanair's choice
For the return to Europe, Ryanair will initially offer. the 737 Max in the UK. Progressively they will be included in the summer routes that are part of the airline's ambitious plan. And it is precisely at Bergamo-Orio al Serio Airport that Ryanair has scheduled the arrival of one of 24 Boeing 737 Max aircraft to be delivered after the summer.
The Boeing 737 Max has been given the okay to return to European skies in January 2021. The clearance came 22 months after it was grounded following the two fatal accidents. After receiving clearance from the United States, Brazil and Canada, Easa, or the European Aviation Safety Agency, rated the aircraft positively. Thus, in late March, Boeing made it official that it had received an order to deliver Of 100 737 Max and 155 options on two models.
