Thailand retraces its steps after only six weeks. It is again changing the mandatory quarantine period required of all new arrivals. The government has gone back to the drawing board, opting to cancel 7 days of isolation previously scheduled for vaccinated travelers, as well as the 10 days for all others. The mandatory quarantine period back to touch altitude 14 days, starting on May 1 or May 6, 2021, as appropriate.
Thailand, new rules
The extension of isolation days has left travelers who had already purchased tickets and booked facilities stunned, aware that they could take advantage of a 50% reduction in the in-room quarantine period (announced March 8). But not only that, they will also be forced to comply with new rules.
Here is the new regulation:
- All passengers entering Thailand, starting May 1, 2021, must undergo a 14-day quarantine period, regardless of their country of origin or receipt of the vaccine
- Travelers who have already obtained a Certificate of Entry (CoE) from the Embassy, prior to May 1, will have to undergo a 7-day quarantine if vaccinated, or 10 days in other cases. This is provided they arrive in Thailand by May 5.
- Travelers holding a Certificate of Entry (CoE) who arrived in Thailand on or after May 6, 2021, will undergo a 14-day quarantine. No changes of any kind will be required. The isolation period of the certificate will be updated automatically. The booked accommodation facility will contact the user to update the planned package
