Volotea, the low-cost airline that connects medium- and small-sized cities and European capitals, today announced further investments in Naples. They will, in fact, be based at Capodichino 2 Airbus A320s that, thanks to a capacity of 180 seats, will allow the low-cost airline to increase its transport capacity, offering an even more convenient and comfortable travel experience and always guaranteeing maximum safety and hygiene on board. The arrival of the A320s in Naples is part of the development plan undertaken by Volotea, which recently became a 100% Airbus company.
Volotea, which in 2020 inaugurated one of its own operating bases in Naples, will base 2 aircraft at the airport, increasing the volume of available seats by 13% and 77%, respectively, compared to Summer 2019 and 2020. Finally, for Summer 2021, the carrier will take to the runway in Naples with a total of 23 routes, 11 domestic (Alghero, Cagliari, Catania, Genoa, Lampedusa - new 2021 - Olbia, Palermo, Turin, Trieste, Venice and Verona) and 12 to foreign destinations (Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes and Toulouse in France, Kefalonia, Crete, Mykonos, Preveza Lefkada, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos and Zakynthos).
In addition to being more economically efficient, the upgraded fleet will also be more environmentally friendly, significantly reducing the company's carbon footprint per passenger through lower greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, through customized "vortex generators," Volotea Airbuses will produce less whistle effect on approach, further reducing noise impact. Finally, safety should not be forgotten: all Volotea Airbuses are equipped with hospital-grade air filters (HEPA: High Efficiency Particulate Air) that filter out 99.97% of particles such as viruses and bacteria, for maximum hygiene travel.
