Offers that save money
The best way to justify the annual cost of American Express Platinum is to first use the €150 voucher included in the annual fee, a voucher that drops to €50 if you are an American Express Gold holder.
In a summer where it will still be difficult to get around--to explain these offers--we have taken as an example one of the gems of Italian tourism in the world, namely Venice. But the same thing could work in Riga in Latvia, in London or in New York.
First two offers that can be combined for a back-to-back, that is, making two separate reservations at the same property to be linked at check-in or by contacting the hotel after the two reservations are completed.
Venice is home to some of the most luxurious properties in the world; we have chosen, for this article, the Baglioni Luna or Il Danieli, which belong to the Leading Hotels of the World and participate in Amex's Fine Hotels + Resorts program.
The FHR program provides a number of benefits for those who book this type of stay through the Amex travel portal, these benefits are:
- Credit of 100 $ To be consumed in food and drink during the stay
- Room upgrades, if available upon check-in
- Early check-in at 12:00 noon (subject to availability)
- Breakfast for 2 people, daily
- Wi-fi connection included
- Check-out delayed to 4:00 p.m.
In the simulation, a second-tier room type was chosen. In this way I hope, thanks to the upgrade, to be assigned a Grand Canal view room or even a Junior Suite, rooms that cost on the same date from 100 to 300€ per night more.
First, I applied the travel voucher worth €150 which is included in my Amex Platinum benefits each year. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to accumulate the discount provided by the current Payback promotion, but I still entered my card number to accumulate also the relevant PB points.
At this point the offer in the My Offers section in the app or on the Amex website comes into play, offer that you need to activate first To use the card in the contracted establishment.
By doing so, this first night will have a discounted cost of €200 (€150 voucher and €50 discount offer) to which we can add the 100$ of vouchers to be used at the hotel, the complimentary breakfast, and all this without counting the probable room upgrade, which alone could increase the value of the benefits by 50%, and the flexible and generous check-in/out times that can make this weekend even more unforgettable.
If we want to book a second night at the same property, we can always do so from the travel portal, this time, however, we will choose to pay locally so as to trigger the second promotion active right now that gives us a €100 discount on a spend at LHW group hotels of €100
By doing so, these two offers will be recognized directly in the statement with A direct transfer of 150€ from the final cost of the reservation.
The other offers for hotels
It is possible to receive a €100 statement discount on a spend of at least €500 in an American Express card transaction on the site www.voihotels.com/it and at participating VOI Hotels properties, until 10/31/2021. Offer is valid only once per registered card By October 31.
At the Chia Laguna, Fonteverde, Le Massif, Grotta Giusti, and Bagni di Pisa facilities of the Italian Hospitality Collection group, it is possible to receive a €100 discount in your statement on a minimum spend of €300 with an American Express card. By November 17.
Instead, it is equal to 150€ the discount that you can get in your statement by spending at least 500€ in an American Express card transaction on the www.bluserena.it and at participating Bluserena outlets, until 08/31/2021. Offer is valid only once per registered card. By August 31.
Are you a multiple cardholder? You can cumulate these offers simply by making two different reservations or by splitting the cost of your stay into two separate accounts.
Other active promotions
Until December 31, 2021, if you are a holder of a Alitalia American Express credit card, accumulate 1 additional mile over the standard provided by the card, for every euro spent on hotel reservations and car rentals

In conclusion
The combination of these offerings thus allows you to stay spending more than 500€ less. If to this add the 200€ bonus which is issued to all New holders of American Express Gold, now is definitely the best time to apply for this card and spend several weekends around Italy spending much less than you would without these promotions.
