This time seemed to be the charm. After so many announcements and so many postponements, finally on June 21 U.S. and Canada Would have reopened their borders. But no, the date was postponed to July 21.
The border between the two states has been closed since March 20, although in fact only in one direction, namely from the U.S. to Canada. Canadian citizens, in fact, can travel to the U.S. without problems, except that they then have to comply with quarantine on their return.
In contrast, U.S. citizens may not travel to non-essential reasons Canada.
This is basically the exact opposite of what happens in the EU. On the old continent, American citizens can travel without problems and restrictions, but the same is not allowed to European citizens. Or rather, nothing prohibits an Italian or a German from going to the U.S., the important thing is that they have not stayed in the EU, Brazil, the UK and a few other states in the last 14 days.
So this is not good news for all those in Europe who are waiting to travel back across the Atlantic, unless they can afford a double vacation. First 14 days in Mexico and then, with no special constraints, green light to enter the United States by air.
