Here comes more good news for those who are finally thinking of returning abroad, but also for the tourism economy of the Veneto region.

Emirates announced that Will resume flights between Dubai and Venice: from July 1 will be three per week. Also in the same month, the following will increase services to Milan with 10 weekly flights, two more than the planned schedule. Covid-tested flights and no quarantine
Emirates' expansion of flight services to Italy comes as it introduces Covid-tested flights that allow passengers to travel to our country without having to undergo quarantine. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates, said, "We welcome Covid-tested flight arrangements. and we would like to thank the Italian and UAE authorities for their continued efforts to facilitate international travel. The UAE has a strong and long-standing relationship with Italy, and the safe return of air connectivity will help strengthen mutual trade and tourism."
The rules for Emirates customers traveling to Italy.
As of June 2, Emirates customers traveling to Italy aged two years and older must have a negative Covid-19 PCR-RT or rapid test result valid for 48 hours prior to departure. Travelers must also undergo a rapid swab test at their own expense upon arrival in Italy. The airline's official website specifies that starting June 2, 2021, all passengers traveling by Dubai (UAE) in Rome, Milan and Venice will have to meet certain requirements before departure:
- are required to submit to the airline a Covid test performed no later than 48 hours before departure;
- those who are embark on Covid-tested flights must complete, prior to boarding, a location form in digital format, known as the Digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF). Once the form is filled out and submitted, passengers will receive the dPLF in pdf format and QR code to their e-mail address, which they must show to the airline before boarding passes are issued at the original boarding point;
- All arriving passengers are required to book the swab online.
Online booking for the swab
To speed up the process, passengers can book online. The swab is mandatory upon disembarkation from the aircraft. Passengers arriving with an outbound/outbound non-Schengen member and the operating crew are exempt from the quick test after disembarkation. The cost of the service will be borne by the customer. Payment for testing can be made at the airport by credit card, debit card or directly via smartphone using contactless payment apps. If a traveler has not booked the swab online, they will be subject to additional delays upon arrival. The cost of the swab in Rome is 20 euros, in Milan 36 euros.
On flights Covid-tested passengers can enter Italy for tourist purposes from any point of origin. The only exceptions are Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India. Passengers arriving in Rome, Milan and Venice will undergo the Covid-19 rapid test and will be exempt from the quarantine requirement.
Farewell partnership with Alaska Airlines
Since as far back as 2012 Emirates and Alaska Airlines had activated a partnership that allowed benefits for passengers and members of their respective loyalty programs. For Emirates passengers, it meant being able to continue their flight to a destination not served by the Emirates airline in the U.S., such as Seattle where Alaska has its main hub. At the loyalty program level, as is the case with Tap Portugal, members of the U.S. carrier's program could also book award tickets in first class with Emirates.
The divorce was predictable, recently Alaska married the OneWorld alliance and close ties with Emirates' arch enemy, namely Qatar Airways. As of July 1, therefore, the partnership will cease to exist. For Italian passengers, it changes little and for the better, since Emirates has a partnership with JetBlue so if there is a connection you will be able to continue your trip with one of the most interesting and original companies in the American market.
