New historic record for Fiumicino airport in passenger satisfaction. According to the most recent surveys conducted by Airports council international - the international association that independently measures perceived quality at more than 200 airports around the world - in the second quarter of 2021 the "Leonardo da Vinci" recorded a new all-time high, achieving a rating of 4.65 on a scale of up to 5.
This is the best quarter ever and brings Fiumicino airport to be, for the first time, the highest rated airport in the European Union by travelers, surpassing all European airports, from smaller ones with annual traffic of less than 2 million passengers to large international hubs with more than 40 million passengers.
This quarter's record is the result of Aeroporti di Roma's strategy of focusing on digitalization, security, innovation and environmental sustainability to realize the "Leonardo da Vinci" of the future: a competitive airport capable of fully capturing tomorrow's traffic potential, more environmentally sustainable, with minimal land use, even more efficient and safer. In addition to the biometric face check that makes boarding operations faster and safer, which has just been launched with Delta, several initiatives and partnerships in the field of innovation are being pursued at Fiumicino, including the creation in the coming months of the first Italian incubator for start-ups dedicated to the aviation sector.
On the environmental front, Fiumicino Airport has confirmed zero C02 emissions by 2030, well ahead of the European industry's 2050 target. To hit this target, the focus is on projects involving the construction of renewable energy plants at the airport and on low-carbon transportation infrastructure, investing in electric charging stations and boosting electric car sharing.
"This new record," said Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, "once again demonstrates the levels of excellence of the 'Leonardo da Vinci,' which is increasingly attractive to passengers and airlines. It is a new milestone in Adr's strategy focused on excellence in quality and safety, as well as sustainability and innovation. We are determined to emerge from this crisis stronger and more ready for the challenges of the future, which require solutions marked precisely by innovation and full compatibility with the needs of our ecosystem."
