Lufthansa

Lufthansa advises its passengers to carry more than one surgical mask, so as to obviate any problems that may arise. Reference is made to this type because it is the cheapest and easiest to find. In addition, the company also accepts FFP2, KN95 e N95. Under no circumstances, however, will it be mandatory for children under the age of six to wear one.

You can take advantage of an exemption only for demonstrable medical reasons. You need a certificate issued by Lufthansa on a specific form, as well as a negative Covid-19 test taken within 48 hours of travel.

Ryanair

Active security measures on flights operated by Ryanair plan to wear a mask over the mouth and nose at all times. On the flight, attendants may also measure the temperature of travelers. In case of fever, one will be forced to disembark.

The company does not make a big difference between masks. The important thing is not to be without them. However, one should inquire about the country of arrival, which may have some specific requirements. In the case of Italy, for example, the surgical mask is mandatory. For flights to and from Austria and Germany, however, one must opt for the FFP2. No obligation, however, appears to apply to children under the age of six.

Easyjet - Mask Rules

Easyjet

Also Easyjet emphasizes the mandatory wearing of a protective mask, which goes to cover the mouth and nose, at all times during the flight, as well as at the airport. The type of mask indicated is the FFP2. The company's official website, however, points out that equivalent types are also accepted, as long as they are certified, whether surgical or cloth. Obligations related to all passengers under the age of six.

Under no circumstances will it be permitted to travel with a face-covering scarf, face shield or valve mask. In case of health problems that prevent or advise against the use of a face mask, a medical certificate, either digital or paper, will need to be carried. This should have the main details of the individual, details of the doctor's office, and a date of issue no more than 12 months before departure.

Air France

Air France categorically prohibits valve and fabric masks. In order to board one of the brand's aircraft, it is necessary to have with you, and more importantly wear, a surgical or one of type FFP1, FFP2 o FFP3.

The company's official website points out that there is no way to obtain a face mask on board. Boarding will be prohibited if such a protective device is missing. This, however, is not mandatory for everyone, only from age 11 and up. Instead, it is simply recommended for children from 3 to 11 years old.

KLM

The mask must always cover the mouth and nose throughout the duration of flights with KLM, which emphasizes that the requirement applies only to passengers 10 years and older. Under no circumstances are scarves, bandanas or the like allowed to cover the face. It is necessary to opt for a surgical mask or a FFP. At least 2 protective layers are needed and no valves should be present.

Vueling

Vueling requires the use of a face mask on board, during the entire duration of the flight, for every passenger six years of age and older. Any certified protection is welcome in the cabin, except for the masks equipped with valve, which do not provide due protection to other passengers. It is therefore possible to wear a surgical, hygienic, cloth or FFP2 one.

Alitalia

It is mandatory to wear a surgical mask protective during the entire duration of the flight. In the case of particularly long flights, Alitalia requires a change every four hours. An appropriate number of masks is therefore required, depending on the trip in question. The requirement for such protection is active only for passengers under six years of age.
