For those who choose to cross Italian borders, and treat themselves to an August 2021 in a European Union country, things are not exactly simple. Or rather: it is not easy to untangle the various rules that countries apply and which, from week to week, are susceptible to change.

For example, the Canary. Many are the young Italians who choose them for vacation, attracted by their sea but also (and especially) by the nightlife. Which with Covid-19 is reduced, but still there is. The latest news: the stop the Green Pass requirement, at least on a temporary basis.

But let's find out what's new in the archipelago, and in Spain in general, on the anti-county regulation front.

Stop the Green Pass requirement in the Canary Islands.

The news of the stop to the Green Pass requirement in the Canary Islands came from the news outlet rtve.es. Where previously the government required a certificate of vaccination or recovery, or a negative tampon, to access the hotels and to the restaurants, now this is no longer the case. At least for the time being. Not only that: the rule for closed spaces to reserve 50% of seats for Green Pass holders has also been suspended, it has been Abolished the closing of premises between 0:00 and 6:00 a.m., and the 55% capacity limit for establishments, gyms, cinemas, theaters, auditoriums, and cultural centers no longer applies. Some regulations have been challenged by the Asociación Hostelería Unida de Tenerife and the Círculo de Empresarios y Profesionales de Tenerife del Sur, others are deemed no longer necessary.

In the Canary Islands, as well as Asturias, the epidemiological situation is considered not serious. That is why the Green Pass is no longer considered necessary. Not to mention that, according to the Spanish Constitutional Court and also according to the European Court of Human Rights, data concerning health are subject to privacy.

Previously, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and La Palma were rated at risk level 3, Tenerife at risk level 4.

And in the rest of Spain?

As of July 29, Spain has introduced some entry restrictions. Or rather, it has decided to divide into risk bands the different areas of origin.

At high risk in Italy today are considered:

  • Sardinia
  • Sicily
  • Calabria
  • Campania
  • Emilia-Romagna
  • Latium
  • Liguria
  • Lombardy
  • Brands
  • Autonomous Province of Trento
  • Tuscany
  • Umbria
  • Veneto

Tourists from these regions must present a certificate of vaccination, or a negative Covid-19 test no older than 48 hours (rapid or molecular tests). Also allowed is the certificate of recovery, issued a minimum of 11 days after the positive swab and valid for 180 days. Those from different regions, however, are only required to fill out a public health formulary (SPTH). At the end of the process he will receive a QR Code for Fast Control, which gives him access at the airport to a faster health check (temperature measurement, visual health check and document verification).
