On April 17, 2019, the Changi Airport of Singapore unveiled an attraction that is nothing short of spectacular: Jewel. A dream area that has not received the attention it deserves, considering how after just one year it found itself facing Covid-19-related restrictions.

It is, however, a place that deserves to be discovered, as it is capable of perpetually leaving its visitors open-mouthed. The idea behind it is to propose a mix of elements as far apart as ever. On the one hand there is a huge shopping mall and on the other, as surprising as it is, a natural park. An experience to remember and, above all, not to be missed.
Changi Airport, the Jewel project
Behind the project is the study Safdie Architects, led by a celebrated name, to say the least: Moshe Safdie. A project that also saw the collaboration of RSP. The entire Jewel will be placed in a dome made of glass and steel offering a huge space for visitors, amounting to 137 thousand square meters.

An area enhanced by greenery all around, enveloping and enhancing the More than 280 stores, restaurants and attractions of various kinds. To speak of green is reductive, however, considering how this daydream is immersed in the Forest Valley. It is a particularly lush garden, structurally fascinating as it features suspended walkways, a variety of paths, waterfalls and crossing bridges. What is Rain Vortex
The Rain Vortex of Jewel will be the central element of this unique-looking mall. A mammoth waterfall, whose emotional impact on the public is incredibly increased because the whole thing is indoors. Its extension, starting from the ceiling, will be of 40 meters. Again, however, the technological input will give an additional nuance to this water play. The entire column will become a screen, useful for image projections or striking color plays.
Changi Airport, the Canopy Park
All visitors passing through Changi Airport will also have the opportunity to stroll serenely through the Canopy Park. An area full of attractions, located at the highest level of the Jewel (L5). Its area covers 14 thousand square meters and includes:
- Discovery Slides: a giant sculpture. A shell with artistic features that conceals within it a slide system made comfortable by the presence of air conditioning. A structure 16.7 meters long and 6.5 meters high (at the highest point). A unique sculpture, the result of a production that took place in three different locations around the world.
- Foggy Bowls: verdant areas characterized by a mist coming out of the ground, capable of generating a cloud-like effect. A dream scenario for the little ones.
- Petal Garden: a garden that shows off a large number of flower arrangements, of all colors and shapes. A way to enhance the spirit, surrounded by a sea of petals.
- Topiary Walk: a relaxing walk, surrounded by greenery, with a path enhanced by colorful depictions of animals.
There are four bundles available. Entrance packages that also provide access to different attractions from the "standard" ones mentioned above. Here's what else to find out:
- Canopy Bridge: a spectacular 23-meter-high suspension bridge featuring glass flooring. An experience not ideal for the faint of heart.
- Hedge Maze: is the largest labyrinth in Singapore, looking very classical, being composed of huge hedges.
- Mirror Maze: hypnotic labyrinth composed entirely of mirrors, which is somewhat reminiscent of the atmosphere of amusement parks.
- Bouncing Net: a giant trampoline placed 8 meters above the ground at its highest point. A fun game to feel one step from the sky.
- Walking Net: an intricate web set 25 meters high, requiring visitors to have a certain balance and spirit of adventure to traverse it from end to end.
