Traveling in Covid time is a far different experience than what we were all used to until 2019. The early months of 2020 have shaken up the world, and today we find ourselves facing limitations and obligations that were once completely unknown. The bureaucracy, so to speak, surrounding each and every trip has markedly increased.
In this article:
This means that all passengers must have the necessary documentation with them to depart, which is not limited to their identification documents, boarding pass and passport. One must have certain digital files or printed sheets related to one's Covid negativity. It is recommended, therefore, that you show up at the airport much earlier than you used to. The slightest mistake or forgetfulness can always happen, considering how this whole system is still new to us. Aware of that risk, KLM has decided to meet its passengers' needs by offering a solution for some routes: Upload@Home.
KLM, Upload at Home
KLM's new service, valid only for certain destinations, allows passengers to arrive at the airport prepared. Anyone who has the opportunity to take advantage of Upload@Home will be able to have the certainty of being in possession of everything necessary for embarkation. A simple way to achieve two crucial results:
- avoid the inability to board
- speed up the control process
Even those who should feel they are perfectly familiar with the new regulations would do well to take advantage of the service, having the opportunity, considering how Covid regulations are subject to sudden changes, depending on the level of contagion. It is also worth noting how regulations are different, often, from country to country. It is not necessarily the case, therefore, that the experience of a previous flight can apply to the preparation of the necessary documentation for a subsequent trip.
Upload@Home, what to know
Why take the risk of not boarding the flight we need to take? Why find ourselves arguing over documentation deemed to be fallacious? KLM extends a hand to its passengers at such a confusing time.
Participation in Upload@Home is on a voluntary basis and totally free of charge. A fully digital self-service to better navigate through the bureaucracy of the Covid standards. At present, it is available for the following KLM flights from or via Amsterdam to the following destinations:
- Curaçao
- Dubai
- Lima
- St. Martin's
- Istanbul
- Germany
- Spain
This is a useful service, to say the least, and one that is expected to see an increase in interested destinations in the near future. Customers who have booked a flight to one of these destinations will receive an invitation to participate in the service. Once all the required documents have been collected (they can be uploaded up to 5 hours before departure), they will get the result at the indicated e-mail address, usually within an hour. An efficient service, available for checking from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Carrying out the documentation check means not having to do it at the airport. By taking advantage of Upload@Home you will only have to show your passport or ID card, and any visa. KLM, however, recommends its customers to bring the required documents with them anyway, given the possibility of having to show them upon arrival.
