The official announcement came on the very day that existing restrictions throughout the Asian nation have been extended until the end of August. This means that a nationwide ban on alcohol sales, including Phuket, remains in place, and schools and many businesses will have to remain closed until the end of the month.
Likewise, however, the Ministry of Tourism confirmed with facts that the sandbox model is working and indeed being improved: in fact, it will be possible for tourists arriving in Phuket to move after only 7 days and not the originally planned 14.
How the rules change
The protocol stipulates that one must stay 14 days within the sandbox bubble, however, with this change it will be possible to stay in two different locations. Travelers from will have to stay on the island of Phuket for seven days and then travel on a sealed route to specified destinations in Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga.
