Restrictive measures are being eased in Canada. The country has officially reopened its doors to vaccinated travelers (those who have completed the two-dose cycle). Green light from Sept. 7. The need for a negative anti-Covid test to gain access remains, but after the double inoculation, the quarantine period can be avoided, as can the swab on the eighth day of stay.
Who can enter Canada
A somewhat extensive initial reopening had already taken place last August 9. A measure aimed at U.S. citizens, permanent residents of the U.S. and temporary residents. Doors were also open to French citizens residing in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. A month or so later, it was decided to allow access to all travelers, of any nationality, as long as they had completed the vaccination course.
In order to receive authorization to enter Canada, Without undergoing quarantine and swabbing on day 8 of stay, it is necessary to meet all the requirements for exemption in time for arrival in the country, namely:
- Do not present any symptoms related to Covid-19
- Having received a full course of approved vaccines
- Having received the last dose of the vaccine cycle at least 14 days before entry in Canada
- It is necessary to upload a vaccination trial to ArriveCAN
Canada is in no way opposed to heterologous vaccination, that is, the inoculation of two different doses of vaccine between the first and second injection. There are only four approved types, however, and they are as follows:
- Pfizer-BioNTech
- Modern
- AstraZeneca
- Janssen/Johnson & Johnson
Any other type (Covaxin, Convidecia, Sputnik V, CoronaVac, EpiVacCorona, etc.) will result in a quarantine period and a mandatory swab after 8 days, or return to the country of departure. It should be noted that all vaccination evidence, uploaded to ArriveCAN, must be in French or English, or boast a certified translation.
Covid healers and minors
In Italy, anyone cured of Covid is entitled to the Green Pass. The document is valid for 6 months (soon the expiration will be updated to 12 months), at the end of which time one should be tested for antibody status. Thereafter, if advised by the doctor, a single dose may be administered as appropriate.
For entry into Canada, however, recovery alone is not enough. Same for those cured who have received a single dose (with the exception of those who have been immunized Johnson & Johnson). The country admits only full vaccine cycles.
As for the under 12 years of age unvaccinated, they are required to be accompanied by an adult who has completed the vaccination cycle. Young people will be required to undergo all appropriate tests prior to arrival and upon landing. They are exempt from the quarantine period, as long as they comply with public health regulations. Different is the case for the minors between the ages of 12 and 17, unvaccinated. For them, not only the appropriate tests are triggered, but also fiduciary isolation.
