The air travel experience also includes often long waits at the airport. Something to deal with before one's flight is ready for takeoff. To make more comfortable these moments, for years American Express has been making available to its most prestigious customers of the High-end waiting rooms. These are the so-called Centurion Lounges, widespread in various cities in the United States.
A privilege that, therefore, European travelers have been able to learn about traveling in North America. But it is news these days that an American Express Centurion Lounge is now active on our continent as well. It is located at Terminal 3 of London's Heathrow Airport.. It is the one used mainly by Delta and Virgin Atlantic. It is also chosen by many One World airlines such as American Airlines, Latam, Qantas, the "low cost" Vueling (owned by British Airways) and especially Emirates.
What the American Express Centurion Lounge in London offers.
To create its new reception area at Heathrow, Amex invested heavily in designing a refined and elegant environment in keeping with London style. The Centurion Lounge occupies an area of 600 square meters. It is furnished in luxurious style and Design objects provided by Konk, Naughtone and Deadgood, or from the Art Story art gallery. Includes works by Norman Parkinson, Carne Griffiths and Steven Marshall.
But if the visual aspect is what immediately strikes the visitor's eye, the American Express Centurion Lounge in London also knows how to seduce by the spatial dimension of its environments. Obviously also for the offer given to customers in terms of catering.
In fact, the menus have been curated by renowned star chef Assaf Granit, owner of several restaurants around the world including a particularly popular one in Paris. For Amex, Granit has composed a diverse and cosmopolitan menu. The inspiration comes from the multiculturalism of the British capital. On the traditional front, a London stopover could not miss the detailed tea card, the first ever implemented in offering a Centurion Lounge, as well as a wide variety of wines and other cold drinks and cocktails, curated by Jim Meehan.
Last but not least, Heathrow's new waiting room provides its patrons with a renowned line of cosmetic products made by Samantha Jameson, also inspired by the culture and tradition of London and its neighborhoods and using only local products.
The American Express Centurion Lounge Project
The idea of creating new, luxurious waiting rooms for airline passengers has only recently arisen within American Express. It was a need born out of the need to reconnect with the world of air travel.
But the emergence of the Centurion Lounge network represented a revolution for the world of U.S. travel, where generally luxury airport lounges had relatively low quality when compared with their peers in Europe and Asia. Amex thus invested in a new design geared toward a refined style. A choice both from the point of view of design and product offerings.
The lounges are accessible to all American Express customers in possession of a Centurion or even Platinum card, and each is allowed to bring along up to two guests. The success of the American company's new dedicated areas has been swift and decisive. Within a short time the first lounge outside the United States opened in Hong Kong. Now it has come to the one in London.
How to access the Centurion Lounge
To gain access to the Centurion Lounge present in London, simply show your American Express Platinum (or Centurion) along with the boarding pass. It is possible to bring two guests inside. You cannot enter these lounges for a fee and/or using other cards such as Priority Pass or similar. Centurion cardholders (the black one) can also use the lounges upon arrival at one of these airports; for everyone else, access is allowed only if you are departing and if your flight departs no later than the next 24 hours.
