In the past few weeks, I wrote an article listing the items I like to collect from my travels, and I told you about the most beautiful souvenir, viz. KLM's drinking houses.
Instead, today I am going to focus on another item that, in the name of less environmental impact and saving on plastic and pollution, is destined to disappear, namely the cards loyalty of the various frequent flyer programs.

In an email sent to all members, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM announced that starting next year, physical and baggage cards will no longer be sent.
With this move, the loyalty program Will save the production of 5 tons of paper and 15 tons of plastic. Obviously this will help reduce the carbon footprint by the Franco-Dutch duo and will also result in financial savings, since in addition to producing the cards, sending them to the millions of members around the world also had a cost and produced additional pollution.
The cards therefore will no longer be issued, even upon request for example in airport lounges. The rationale is that it is now possible to take advantage of virtual cards on the wallets of various smartphones.
