Starting December 26, 2021, ITA Airways will include the new "Superior Class" on board its domestic flights. The new product will enable passengers to benefit from dedicated services for a journey of comfort and efficiency, mirroring the quality standards of business classes on ITA Airways' international and intercontinental flights.
What is included in the Superior Class
Upon arrival at the airport, it will be possible to check in at Skypriority counters, check in 2 pieces of luggage weighing 23 kg each free of charge, use fast track to get through security gates quickly (at Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate and Turin airports) and take advantage of priority boarding at the gate.
The fares also include in-flight benefits. The press release talks about a reserved cabin and the guarantee of having the seat next to it always free so you can work at your best or simply enjoy the flight in full relaxation. News also on catering with a dedicated and differentiated service according to the time of day. In addition to the traditional offer of hot and cold beverages, in ITA Airways' new "Superior Class," the following will be served: an Italian breakfast with hot yeast, a selection of cookies and savory snacks during the day, and in the evening an aperitif with sparkling wine and appetizers.
New "Superior Class" tickets can be purchased as early as today. Until January 10, it will be possible to benefit from "Superior Class" on routes from Rome FCO to/from Bari, Brindisi, Palermo, Venice and Genoa, and to/from Milan Linate - Pescara. Starting January 10, the new class will be available throughout the national network.
This is an interesting development, since with this choice ITA aligns with what all European airlines are doing, even on short haul, especially in terms of in-flight service (airport service is the same as what you get Having status in the Club Volare program which gives access to SkyPriority benefits). However, the lack of airport lounges still jars, The press release does not mention either the possible reopening of the lounges in Milan and Fiumicino, let alone the possibility of using the third-party lounges present in the airports served by ITA and where there are no lounges of partner companies.
