Recent regulations introduced to contain the pandemic and the spread of the Omicron variant have changed the type of mask required to board planes passing through Italian airports.
Until March 31, 2022 it is mandatory to wear FFP2 type masks on board. Children under the age of 6 are exempt, as per the Ministry of Health regulations.
The thing I personally do not understand is how each nation, European and otherwise, handles regulation independently, creating incredible inconvenience.
For example, if flying with Air France, children up to age 11 are exempt from wearing a mask on board, because that's what the national restrictions say. Or only on board flights departing, or arriving, in Italy is it forbidden to put clothing in the overhead compartment.
Singular, then, how each company interprets the transposition of relevant national regulations differently.
Personally I only hope that in the post-pandemic world there remains only one procedure Of all those introduced for Covid, viz. Landing by file. With passengers remaining seated while waiting without having to scramble to crowd into the aisle by scrupulously following the cabin crew's directions.
