In the past few days we have been talking about the new green approach of Air France in the matter of beauty kits for passengers on long-haul flights, today it is the turn of Delta, another SkyTeam carrier, which is also the world's largest airline.

From plastic on board, to blankets for long-haul flights and disposable cutlery. Each year these new measures will reduce the generation of nearly 2,500 tons of waste.
The new amenity kit

The contents of the courtesy kit that is distributed to business class and premium economy passengers are changed. Five plastic products are eliminated and replaced with the same number of compostable products. This choice, the U.S. carrier says, will create 250 new jobs in the Mexican plants that produce the products under the Someone Somewhere brand.
Bamboo cutlery
Goodbye to plastic even for cutlery, which will now be bamboo, eco-friendly at 100%. Nothing changes for business passengers who will continue to receive silver cutlery.
The wine will be in cans
Perhaps my least favorite thing is the choice for economy passengers to serve wine in aluminum cans. Delta will offer Imagery's Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay on board. Doing so will reduce annual plastic consumption by up to 11 tons, according to the company. It is not exactly the same as drinking champagne.
Recycled plastic for blanket and pillow
We have already seen how other companies have recycled plastic by making it into uniforms for cabin crews, or how Air France used the material to produce new beauty. Delta has chosen to turn plastic into the blankets and pillows offered on board its long-haul aircraft.
The airline's pillows and blankets are now made from eco-friendly materials using More than 100 recycled plastic bottles per set. In addition, the new pillow and comforter come in a washed zippered bed bag instead of a disposable plastic wrap, copying when it is done by, for example, Virgin Airlines.
In conclusion
Goodbye Tumi and welcome eco friendly line, companies are looking for every possible way to Reduce their polluting footprint. Of course, the aesthetic performance of some products is not comparable, however, the environment thanks and breathes. All well and good, but serving wine in a can doesn't seem like this great genius to me, especially since the glass bottle pollutes much less than an aluminum can.
