Bali's is one of the regions most affected by the effects of Covid. Comparing the numbers for 2019 and 2021 is really embarrassing and, of course, worrying for the local economy. In fact, it went from 6 million tourists to just 45 international visitors. A situation that is unbelievable, considering how it is a real paradise and the most important tourist resort in Indonesia.
It was decided to protect the local population from devastating infections with a border closure of about a year and a half. Only as of last October 14 did the long-awaited reopening begin. The situation has not changed overnight, quite the contrary. Some signs have come mainly through domestic tourism. Looking at international travelers, after the first month after reopening, the Central Bureau of Statistics in Bali indicated just two subjects. During the same period in 2019, arrivals were close to 500,000.
How to get to Bali
The reopening of the borders has once again made it possible to treat oneself to a trip to the heavenly places that Bali can offer. Reaching the region, however, is not as easy as in the past. As of January 7, 2022 In fact, the government has placed some entry restrictions Of foreign nationals. The reference is to those who regularly live or have transited in the last 14 days in the following countries:
- France
- Norway
- England
- Denmark
- Botswana
- South Africa
The limit also affects countries geographically close to those that have seen significant increases in the new variant-Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho. No obstacles, then, for Italian citizens whose passports are among those considered valid for entry to Bali. However, it is important to avoid stopovers in the European destinations previously listed. Italy is among a list of 17 countries admitted. We highlight all others to emphasize which destinations are safe in case of multiple travels before reaching Bali:
- Bahrain
- China
- Hungary
- India
- Italy
- Japan
- Kuwait
- Liechtenstein
- New Zealand
- Poland
- Portugal
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- South Korea
- Spain
- Sweden
- United Arab Emirates
Documents for access to Bali
One needs to carefully prepare one's entry to Bali, starting with applying for an electronic visa. The entire procedure is done online through the website visa-online-imigrasi.go.id. It is also necessary to comply with the conditions sanctioned for the health protection of the territory. One must therefore have official documentation, with English wording, attesting to the complete course of vaccination against Covid-19. This is in addition to a negative result with molecular swab (done 48 hours before arrival) or antigenic swab (done 24 hours before arrival).
In addition to the electronic visa, one must take out health insurance. One is required that has minimum coverage of $100,000, which also includes treatment for Covid infection. Finally, this is supplemented by proof of confirmation of accommodation throughout one's stay in Indonesia, as well as payment made. As mentioned, traveling to Bali today is not as easy as it was in the past. Here are all the steps to note down:
- Certificate of vaccination (carried out at least 14 days before arrival)
- Downloading the PeduliLindungi App
- Recording e-PCR
- Verification of e-Hac
- Registration of e-CD
- Documents showing that the accommodation has been booked
- Negative PCR test
- Travel insurance
- Immigration Visa
All travelers will also have to undergo a mandatory quarantine period. This affects both foreign visitors and Indonesian citizens arriving from abroad. A period of Seven-day isolation, in case of regular vaccination and negative Covid-19 PCR test. In contrast, the period is 10 days in case the individuals come from one of the countries considered at risk, listed above. Such travelers will have to take a new swab before quarantine and, of course, one at the end (as in the case of those who remain in isolation for 7 days).
At the conclusion of the isolation period, you will be free to circulate in case of a negative PCR test. If positive, however, you will be transferred to an isolation facility dedicated to asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients, or, in more severe cases, you will be hospitalized.
