What is happening in these hours Is the first bad news of 2022 For all reward travel enthusiasts. Emirates has increased the cost of its reward tickets effective immediately.
Less than 12 months later, the Emirates carrier has made its second write-down. If last year It had been the turn of the first-class award tickets, this time it's the turn of business class seats Which thus become more expensive.
What changes
For the past few days, many blogs have been relaying the news of Emirates award ticket price increase.
At the moment, only one-way tickets are affected by the increase, while it would appear that those of Round trip we did not have any change on the price. The whole thing, however, may only be temporary, perhaps the fault of an update that has not yet been fully propagated.
Currently the minimum number of Skywards miles requests for a round-trip ticket from Milan to New York is 90k, while a one-way ticket costs 72,500 miles. A very high difference from 45k if booked round trip.
So we hope that the most convenient route for us Italians will remain for a long time to come at a cost of 90k skywards points.
Also unchanged at the moment is the ticket to go from Milan to Dubai, which always costs 90k Skywards points.
A small "parachute" to make up for this devaluation could be to take advantage of the Skywards+ program which saves 20% of the points needed for booking award tickets.
In conclusion
It is impossible to know whether this increase will also affect round-trip tickets, my advice is: if you have Emirates points in your piggy bank, now might be the perfect time To use them before it is too late or more expensive.
