Swiss International Air Lines, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, presented at Zurich Airport its first aircraft equipped with its new Premium Economy Class.
The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER with registration HB-JNH, will be operated on SWISS's Zurich-Miami services from early March onward.
The new Premium Economy Class of Swiss will be installed in all 12 of its Boeing 777-300ERs. After Miami, the next destinations will be: from mid-April, San Francisco and from late April, Sao Paulo in Brazil.
During the introduction phase of the new travel class, customers can take advantage of paid upgrades to try out the new cabin, if available on the flight, at check-in or at the departure gate.
The new cabin will be equipped with 24 state-of-the-art seats. The seats feature a hard-shell design that allows them to recline easily without disturbing the passenger in the back.
Premium experience on the ground and in the air
For added in-flight comfort, Premium Economy Class travelers will also receive a new beuty kit that will be eco-friendly to minimize the use of plastic. "At Swiss, we place a strong emphasis on making the entire travel chain as sustainable as possible," explains CCO Tamur Goudarzi Pour, "because we don't just want to be a premium carrier for our guests: we want to constantly live up to all our responsibilities to the climate and also to society.
Also renovated the in-flight audio and video entertainment system with a 15.6-inch screen and new anti-noise headphones.
The culinary offerings on board also change, specially modified to suit the new travel class. From a welcome drink to a choice of hot menus.
Complementing the premium treatment is the ability to check two pieces of luggage up to 23 kg each, twice the checked baggage allowance for regular Economy Class travel.
In addition, passengers can, for a fee, enjoy discounted access to the Business Lounges at Zurich and Geneva airports and the Arrival Lounge at Zurich Airport.
