Starting today, members of the Volare loyalty program, the frequent flyer of ITA Airways, are experiencing difficulties accessing their restricted area. In addition, a notification has appeared stating that "flight history will be available soon." Let us say that this is not very reassuring.
Not that there are currently many reasons for access, Except those of seeing/printing one's loyalty card.. Everything else is still unknown with less than 5 days to go before the deadline, as written in the regulations, for the launch of the second phase of the program. Phase that was supposed to start on the first of January and that instead it was postponed for 2 months.
By February 28, in addition to the card, the more than 250,000 members should find all points accrued for flights made since October 15 credited to their profiles. In addition, thanks to the program's launch promotion, 10 thousand Volare points should also be credited promised to all new members who have flown at least two routes by the end of 2021.
The approximately 50,000 members who signed up for the status match offer will also hopefully be able to see all the benefits provided by the status operational both when flying ITA Airways and when flying with SkyTeam partners.
As we have had the opportunity to write several times, at the moment the only thing certain is that the number of points you accumulate with each flight will not be linked to miles flown, as was the case with Millemiglia, but to the cost of the ticket purchased. A model similar to that at Air France/KLM's Flying Blue program that multiplies spending by a fixed value that varies depending on the status held.
Instead, from March 1, it will be possible to book award tickets, so we should find out what policy the carrier will have: will it focus on a fixed table as was the case with Millemiglia or will it switch to dynamic pricing as is the case with many companies?
With less than a week to go before the debut, there are so many unknowns about the program and also many members who, after losing millions of points with the Alitalia bankruptcy, hope not to find themselves with a fist in their hands again.
