Philippines reopens to vaccinated tourists, this time for real. Since Feb. 1, fully vaccinated residents of the archipelago have been able to return home without the quarantine requirement. Starting Feb. 10, the option will be extended to foreigners as well. The Philippines has thus decided to follow the lead of other Asian nations after Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.
Philippines reopens: conditions
La reopening of the Philippines, initially scheduled for December 2021, will take place on the February 10, 2022. As of today, in fact, business and leisure tourists will be able to enter, fully vaccinated, from Countries without visa requirements.
First, however, they will have to undergo a PCR test in the previous 48 hours upon departure, and although no additional testing or quarantine is required upon arrival, for seven days it is necessary to keep monitored and report any symptoms to local authorities.
There are more than 150. including Italy, the nations whose inhabitants do not require any visa to be admitted to the 7,000 islands that make up the archipelago. Tourists can gain access provided they are Fully vaccinated and negative for Covid-19. Proof of immunization can be a World Health Organization vaccination certificate, the Philippines' digital vaccination passport (VaxCertPH). Or, the vaccine certificate from a foreign government that has accepted the VaxCertPH certificate under a reciprocal agreement.
Foreign travelers must also have a return ticket and have a passport with a remaining validity of at least six months.
Those who are not vaccinated, or are only partially vaccinated, should be tested within 48 hours of departure, stay in quarantine in a facility designated by the government for 5 days and then at a home of your choice: in total, the quarantine days are 14. Children under 12 follow the rule that applies to the accompanying adult.
However, the Philippines for Italy is part of theE list: until March 15, 2022 Therefore, it is not allowed to go there for tourism. Those who travel to the country for health, work, study or absolute urgency must return:
- fill in the digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF)
- Submit a negative result of a molecular test no older than 72 hours or a rapid test performed 24 hours earlier
- Undergo a 10-day fiduciary isolation
- Conduct an additional test at the end of 10 days
What to see in the Philippines
The Philippines is an extraordinary country of long beaches, crystal clear waters, forests and fun.
Fewer jokes than neighbors Thailand and Vietnam, and hardly at the top of Italians' dream travel destinations, the Philippines is - for everyone - the islands where the famous province of Palawan which, thanks to locations such as El Nido, has now entered the common imagination. Not to mention theBorocay Island, which is an hour's flight from Manila and is the ideal destination for those who dream of a vacation between the beach and the sea (its 4-kilometer-long White Beach, thanks to intensive work by resort authorities, has become an example for sustainable tourism).
In fact, this country of the Southeast Asia is all to be discovered. It is the perfect destination for ecotourism lovers and those who want to have an authentic experience: the country life of Bohol province, the "Chocolate Hills," the waters in which to swim with whale sharks.
Now that the Philippines is reopening, therefore, it is time to give it some thought. Perhaps for next summer.
