Starting next February 22, enter Singapore will be much easier, less stressful and cheaper. The new rules for travelers through the Vaccinated Travel Lane protocol will be significantly simplified after the tightening due to the omicron variant.
What is LTV
It is the health protocol that allowed the Asian city-state to reopen its borders in early October. It has since undergone numerous changes and expanded to include many more nations. It is important to understand that we look not at the nationality of the traveler, but their history in terms of travel prior to entry Changi Airport.
Starting next Feb. 22, one of the requirements that will change is precisely the travel history. Previously, the last 14 days were taken into consideration, now Only the 7 days prior to entering the nation will be looked at. At present, the countries included in the LTV corridor are: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, the Maldives, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, now Hong Kong, and, as of Feb. 25, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
So if you have only transited through these nations in the last 7 days, you will be able to enter without any problems.
But two other changes are more important. It will still require a pre-start PCR buffer, but no longer the PCR on arrival replaced by a rapid swab. Most importantly, the requirement for a series of daily checks up to the 6th day of stay disappears.
The travel permit application and use of routes operated within the LTV scheme remains in operation, such as those of Singapore Airlines and major European carriers. On balance, however, you save at least a hundred euros and all the stress of waiting for the various results, plus the fact that you will be free to do what you want once you have the result of the quick swab at the airport.
