Antonello asks about the best way to spend Payback points now that Alitalia is gone and secondly how to spend the remaining Millemiglia points.

We don't know how many points Antonello has in his pocket, but Luigi certainly has a lot. As many as 691,815 and he asks us how to use them.

Payback Points

Those who have been reading TFC for a long time know that we are great Payback card users, over the years has allowed us to easily accumulate hundreds of thousands of points and turn them into Alitalia award tickets just as easily.

Over time, the generosity of bonuses and multipliers has shrunk, but as the current 100,000 point bonus from BNL, there are still many opportunities to take satisfaction.

Antonello's question revolves around the fact that one of the smarter conversions of Payback points was to turn them into Millemiglia points, especially when a conversion rate of 1:1 was proposed. Today, it is good to remember, it is still possible to transfer them to Alitalia's loyalty program, the rate is 2:1. Obviously, however, it lacks the ability to turn them into airline tickets, so perhaps it makes little sense.

The best use I can recommend, so as not to lose the points when they expire, is to point toward vouchers Booking to use to book hotels and other services on the portal. If you want, depending on your habits, you can also turn them into vouchers to get gas at Esso or groceries at Carrefour. These are also "better" options than a set of cookware or other prizes in the catalog.

Millemiglia points

As of today, dear Luigi, there are two things you can do with your nearly 700,000 points: turn them into Lastminute voucher Where 688k points become 4 vouchers worth €500 each. Beware, however, vouchers cannot be combined.

Of course, it's 2,000 euros and it's better than nothing, but with Alitalia they would have gone out there 10 Magnifica class tickets to fly to New York., a value of not less than 25 thousand euros.

In addition, it is possible to turn points into AVIS vouchers, in which case they can be transformed 8,500 miles in €25 to spend on rentals. Again, there is a maximum limit to the vouchers that can be used per individual reservation.

What to do? At present, the writer still has half a million points on his MM profile. I am waiting for the last day useful to use them, especially since if the MSC operation goes through, things could change considerably.

First. MSC could buy Millemiglia loyalty program from commissioners, which ITA could not do instead and was therefore forced to to launch the new frequent flyer Volare.

If so, GNV could bring back in vogue beyond the Alitalia brand. also the Millemiglia loyalty program and give back to Caesar what was Caesar's, statuses to frequent flyers and points to all members.

Of course this is my assumption, but it would be an incredible marketing operation that would generate immediate positive returns for the new MSC-branded company.

Antonello and Luigi, I hope I have answered your doubts. And for all readers who would like to ask us questions we are available via email, fb and in the comments below.
