The Digital Passengers Declaration (DPD) is the new document required by Australia to accept visitors from abroad, as a form of health requirement control against Covid-19.
Fancy a trip to Australia? No problem, as as of last Feb. 21 the Oceanian country has reopened to foreign tourists. But there is one new development to take into account, that relating to the Digital Passenger Declaration.
It is a simple declaration that the visitor-whether a foreigner or an Australian returning to his or her home country-has met the necessary entry requirements to Australia. This new measure replaces the old Australia Travel Declaration. It is to be considered An addition to the normal entry visa in the country, which of course remains just as mandatory. Here is all the information.
Australia: how and when to fill out the Digital Passenger Declaration
This new measure is Effective February 18, 2022, so anyone who wants to enter Australia in the coming months will need to fill out this documentation, which can be found easily on the site of the oceanic country's Department of Internal Affairs.
The Digital Passenger Declaration requires the following information:
- I contacts, including the telephone number with which he will be contactable during his stay in Australia.
- One's own vaccination status or, alternatively, a valid medical exemption.
- The negative Covid-19 test result carried out before departure.
- A list of the places visited in the previous 14 days Upon arrival in Australia.
- A statement that will satisfy all the expected testing requirements By the Australian government.
- The Flight number, passport number, and intended address During the stay in Australia.
The DPD can also be completed 7 days before the flight. It can be finalized and sent to the local government only from 72 hours before departure. This is necessary because of the requirement for a negative Covid-19 test, which cannot be done until 3 days after the flight.
Once the Digital Passenger Declaration is completed, only two answers can be obtained: 'complete' or 'confirmation required at check-in'. In the second case, it does not mean that the request has been rejected, but rather that for safety it will also be checked at check-in, which is why it is better to show up at the airport a little earlier so as to avoid long lines that can make you miss your flight.
Whatever the answer, however, it is always Better to have the DPD with you, on your phone or printed out, along with your vaccination certificate and negative pre-departure test result. And, as mentioned earlier, in order to enter Australia you will also need to have first obtained an entry visa, which you can apply for here.
