While in Italy passengers are required to wear FFP2, starting from Wednesday, March 16 the British flag carrier will remove the requirement to wear face masks on board its entire fleet.
At the same time also London's Heathrow Airport will remove the requirement to wear sanitary devices that has been in effect since the pandemic outbreak.
In recent days we had talked about another British carrier, Jet2, who had first made the decision to remove the requirement to wear a mask on board except when eating/beverages.
I am writing this news as I am at JFK, having just landed on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles during which the pilot repeatedly reminded us of the requirement to wear a face mask, urging passengers to avoid holding a glass for 4 hours as an excuse for not wearing protection.
The choice of BA, the first company of this size to make such a decision, is set to break ground and be followed by other carriers as well.
The only doubt remains about individual countries' regulations. As mentioned, Italy requires not only wearing protection, but obligates passengers to have an FFP2. So what will happen from the day after tomorrow? I am curious. Too bad I will arrive in London tomorrow (March 15) and then in Italy, otherwise I could have experienced this throwback right away.
