We often tell about curious happenings occurring on board aircraft and readily documented on the social media. Today it is the turn of Air Asia which was forced to divert one of its flights because of a snake wandering around undisturbed in the hatbox compartment.

The Air Asia flight, departing from Kuala Lumpur and bound for Tawau, was proceeding as usual: some were having a drink, some were reading, and some were crushing a nap. At one point, after about 2 1/2 hours from departure, a passenger unexpected, and evidently without a ticket, peeped through the hatboxes: a snake.
At that point the panic on board, but as is classic in these cases there is always someone who promptly starts recording a video and then post it on social media where it will become viral.
An AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau was forced to change course after a snake was seen on board.
To avert any untoward incidents involving passengers and crew, the flight was diverted to Kuching.

The captain thus decided that it was not worth taking any risks and carried out a deviation halfway through the trip, landing at the Kuching airport.
"As soon as the captain noticed this, he decided to divert the plane to Kuching as a precautionary measure to fumigate the plane. This is a very rare incident that can occur from time to time on any aircraft.
The captain has made appropriate arrangements and the flight will depart for Tawau as soon as possible. The safety and well-being of our guests and crew are always our top priority. At no time was the safety of guests or crew put at risk."

The funny thing is that the next day the aircraft. Was still at the airport in Kuching, suggesting that it was not exactly easy to remove the unwanted guest. Passengers were therefore forced to switch planes in order to depart for Tawau.

An event that apparently is not isolated, a few years ago in fact in a flight of Aeromexico headed to Mexico City another snake decided to scare the passengers:

This time the reptile was not even inside the hatboxes, but had actually come out out, Over the heads of the passengers!
Not only snakes...even bats on board!
