TFC readers are well aware that we never hide our preferences, just as we do not avoid telling the things we do not like. Southwest is one of our favorite companies, we would like to have a low-cost like the American one on our continent as well, we would be sure that Ryanair and EasyJet would be forced to change their approach and provide a much better service.
The new Wanna get away plus tariff
Fifteen years after the last change to its tariffs, the company founded in the 1960s inserted A new tariff called "Wanna get away plus". As usual, the vector has Changed its offering without penalizing customers And without taking benefits away from the lower rate.
Passengers will, therefore, be able to choose from 4 different fares: Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select. The new fare will be available to customers toward the end of the second quarter of 2022.
It is good to mention that all fares offer: 2 free checked bags, no change fees, free TV/movies/messages, free snacks and drinks on board the entire fleet.
The new tariff inserts some benefits and allows you to accumulate more points in the Rapid Rewards loyalty program. The most significant news, and an exclusive in the global commercial aviation scene, Is the ability to cancel a flight by obtaining a voucher, which will eventually be transferable To another passenger.
In addition, the tariff provides more flexibility and a better position on waiting lists and the ability to change flights on the same day.
In conclusion
In the old country we are used to worsening changes, however, this is not in Southwest's DNA. In the presentation, management repeatedly made the point: "We just want to improve the experience on board our planes, so we're not going to make our base fare worse. With this new option we want to give even more control to the passenger to pay only for what is important to them." What can I say, Southwest always wins.
