Costa Toscana marks the restart of Costa Cruises' fleet restart plan after the pandemic hiatus. Seven more ships will return to operation, adding to those already in service, until next summer, when the entire 12-ship fleet will be operational again. From spring 2022 to winter 2022-23, Costa's schedule includes a total of over 1,800 cruises. The company's ships will visit 179 destinations around the world, with a completely revamped range of excursions, providing about 1,800 tours different to have unique experiences at the heart of each place, including long stops at ports.
Equally rich will be the gastronomic offerings: in total, Costa ships will offer As many as 112 restaurants or dedicated food areas on the entire fleet, with novelties such as signature dishes by three great chefs as Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze e Ángel León, which interpret the flavors of the destinations included in the itineraries.
La first cruise of Costa Toscana, departing from Savona today March 5, plans a week-long itinerary that will visit Marseille, Barcelona, Valencia, Palermo and Civitavecchia/Rome. After her debut, the new flagship will remain positioned in the Western Mediterranean until late November. During the summer season she will call at Savona, Civitavecchia/Rome, Naples, Ibiza, Valencia, and Marseille, while during the fall season Palma de Mallorca will take Ibiza's place.
Costa Toscana is a true traveling smart city. Thanks to the use of liquefied natural gas, it is possible to almost totally eliminate the emission of sulfur oxides (zero emissions) and particulate matter (reduction of 95-100%) into the atmosphere, while also significantly lowering nitrogen oxide emissions (direct reduction of 85%) and CO2 (up to 20%). In addition, the ship has a number of cutting-edge technological innovations designed to further reduce environmental impact. The entire daily requirement of water is met by transforming that of the sea through the use of desalinators. Energy consumption is minimized thanks to a intelligent energy efficiency system. Also carried out on board is the 100% of separate collection. and the recycling of materials such as plastic, paper, glass and aluminum. The sea woods that furnish the islands of the new restaurant Archipelago have been recovered thanks to the "Guardians of the Coast", the environmental education program for the preservation of the Italian coastline promoted by Costa Cruises Foundation. For every dinner sampled at Archipelago, Costa Cruises will donate part of the proceeds to support environmental and social projects of the foundation.
