Albastar announces start of scheduled operations from Italy to Senegal, with a double weekly connection departing from Milan Bergamo to Dakar, operated by 189-seat Boeing 737-800s. The first links will begin on Friday, May 13, and Monday, May 16, with nonstop flights departing from Italy every Monday and Wednesday from June until October 31.
Albastar is a Spanish private airline that has been operating in Italy since 2014. The carrier was founded in 2009 and over the years has become a reference point for tour operators, brokers, sports associations and individual customers, offering the market an increasingly flexible business model that includes scheduled, on-demand and religious traffic connections. Albastar operates a fleet of five B737-800NGs configured to 189 seats in single class, which meet the most stringent and stringent safety standards required by EASA.
"The reopening of the route with Dakar offers a long-awaited travel opportunity for the Senegalese community, which is present in large numbers in the province of Bergamo and more extensively in Lombardy and in the areas from which Bergamo airport is easily accessible thanks to the freeway slip roads," emphasizes Giacomo Cattaneo, Sacbo's Aviation Sales Director. This is a very popular route, also because of the economic and commercial ties between northern Italy and Senegal. In addition, the direct connection to Dakar, with the flight covering the distance of about 4,300 km, is once again the longest-haul flight departing from Milan Bergamo airport."
The flight from Bergamo to Dakar is operated Monday and Wednesday, departing Milan Bergamo at 11:15 p.m. with arrival in Dakar at 5:10 a.m. The return flight from Dakar to Bergamo takes off Tuesday and Thursday at 6:40 a.m. arriving in Milan Bergamo at 12:20 p.m.
Giancarlo Celani, Albastar's Chief Commercial Officer & Deputy C.E.O., comments, "It is a pleasure to have been designated as the entrusted air carrier for scheduled rights to Senegal with two weekly frequencies departing from Milan Bergamo airport, which is increasingly distinguishing itself for its attention to the passenger and its strategic location, all of which makes us hope for excellent results in terms of traffic. In addition, we represent the leading leisure carrier for the airport with 15 destinations served during the summer season, and the new long-haul flight to Dakar may be a precursor to larger projects to the northwest African area."
