If theIndonesia was one of your next hypothetical destinations, be aware that entry requirements in the Asian country have changed, becoming less restrictive than in the past as a sign of easing measures to counter the pandemic. The main changes relate to two key issues facing travelers heading to and around Jakarta: the entry visa and PCR tests, or Covid-19 tests certifying negativity to the coronavirus.
What changes for those who want to travel to Indonesia
For those arriving from abroad at Indonesia's seven major airports, one thing required will be an entry visa to be obtained upon arrival. This is a special type of tourist visa, related to those who plan to stay in the nation for only a few days, which is given upon arrival in the Asian country without the need to apply previously. At the moment, the visa is available for 43 different countries of origin for travelers, and fortunately Italy is among them. This means that travelers arriving from our country will have no problem from this point of view entering Indonesia.
The second point to be evaluated under the new entry regulations in the country is that of PCR testing. Previously, it was necessary to present a negative result of a Covid-19 test performed prior to departure, and then retest upon arrival. The former requirement has remained, but the latter is no longer considered necessary for visitors who have completed the vaccination cycle. However, temperature tests are conducted upon arrival. People over 37.5° will still have to undergo PCR testing even if they have a regular Green Pass.
Another change in Indonesia's tourism laws is the removal of the requirement to book specific hotels for the first night of one's stay. Incoming travelers will then be able to freely choose their accommodation.
