There are different ways to try to heal one's broken heart. Some seek solace in friends, others take refuge in TV series marathons, and still others get indigestion from ice cream.

How Heartbreak Hotel was born
Located on the coast of the British county of Norfolk, the "curecuori" hotel is the brainchild of Alice Haddon. Who, after a hiatus due to the loss of her mother, wanted to rethink how to apply therapy to broken hearts. That's how Heartbreak Hotel, a facility designed for the women and created in the private residences of Barsham Barns.
One day, while listening to a radio program about romantic scams, Alice Haddon realized that there were very few useful services to help women affected by this type of heartbreak. So she began to evaluate a new thought of transformational therapy developed within a group that was useful in supporting women with broken hearts. Basically, the psychologist felt there was a need to shine a light on something that women victims of love disappointment needed. "We believe that heartbreak connects us to the essence of what it means to be human. And that our vulnerability is also the birthplace of compassionate change and bold creativity," these are her words.
She has therefore begun to build an all-female team, with Ruth Field, her longtime friend, among its first members. "We think of the retreat as an intensive care unit for the heart: Hot water bags, blankets, hot drinks, roaring fires, no one task. Guests are fully cared for so that they can devote themselves to therapy," he explained.
How shock treatment for broken hearts works
I retreats, which are held Friday to Monday, represent a journey through a safe space. Here women can realign themselves with themselves, away from the love disappointment they have suffered, in search of a new way of being. The goal is to free guests from the hurt in their hearts, moving them away from the commitments they often find themselves in (including caring for others). Because, those with wounded hearts often get stuck in that trauma.
Heartbreak Hotel therefore provides a EMDR specialist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy aimed at Unlock and neutralize painful memories.
In addition to therapeutic group sessions, Heartbreak Hotel guests will enjoy. menu of healing plants and for the heart, of chats in front of a fireplace and long walks on the beautiful beaches of Norfolk.
As Ruth Field says, the location of the facility is very important, as being by the sea and spending days at the beach is absolutely critical for people with broken hearts.
Again Field explains how the team strives to group together at each retreat all the people who have had similar traumatic experiences, in order to make the therapy work best. By doing so, in fact, the retreat participants can identify with each other by comparing themselves to each other.
Should anyone be interested in participating in Heartbreak Hotel retreats, they must fill out a questionnaire that can be retrieved from the facility's website indicating the reason for wanting to take part in the retreat. Once the questionnaire is submitted, the prospective guest will participate in a lengthy call with Alice Haddon or Ruth Field in order to assess eligibility.
